1. Purpose
CyberVista Global welcomes informed disagreement, relevant questions, corrections, technical insight, lived experience, and credible evidence that can improve public understanding of cybersecurity, technology, privacy, digital policy, and related issues.
Comment and community spaces are provided to facilitate constructive discussion around published material and the issues it addresses.
They are not intended to operate as an unrestricted hosting service or to replace formal correction requests, editorial complaints, emergency reporting, vulnerability disclosures, or confidential communication with CyberVista Global.
2. Participation Standards
Comments should address the article or the issues it raises and should contribute relevant information, reasoned opinion, questions, criticism, technical insight, or personal experience.
Strong criticism of institutions, public figures, companies, products, services, policies, technologies, ideas, and journalism is permitted.
Personal abuse, intimidation, harassment, threats, or attacks directed at a person based on their identity or personal characteristics are not permitted.
Participants should distinguish between:
- Established facts
- Verified technical information
- Allegations
- Personal experience
- Speculation
- Satire
- Opinion
Claims involving serious wrongdoing, security incidents, fraud, vulnerabilities, or other consequential allegations should be supported by credible evidence and may be withheld pending verification.
Users should not publish exploit details, credentials, private keys, authentication tokens, or other sensitive technical information that could create an unnecessary security risk.
Where appropriate, security vulnerabilities should be reported through CyberVista Global’s designated security or contact channels rather than publicly disclosed in a comment.
3. Prohibited Content
CyberVista Global may reject or remove content that is:
- Unlawful
- Defamatory
- Threatening
- Harassing
- Hateful
- Discriminatory
- Sexually exploitative
- Unnecessarily graphic
- Supportive of terrorism or violent extremism
- Instructive of serious wrongdoing
- Maliciously deceptive
- Impersonating another person or organization
- Spam
- Automated or coordinated abuse
- Commercial solicitation
- Copyright infringing
- Privacy invasive
- Unrelated to the discussion
- Intended to facilitate unauthorized access or cyber abuse
CyberVista Global may also restrict content that provides operational instructions for serious wrongdoing, facilitates credential theft, malware deployment, unauthorized access, destructive attacks, or other unlawful activity.
Doxxing and Personal Information
Doxxing is prohibited.
Users must not publish private residential addresses, personal telephone numbers, identity documents, financial information, medical information, children’s information, non-public workplace information, private communications, account credentials, authentication tokens, private keys, or other sensitive personal or security information without a clear lawful and legitimate public-interest basis.
Cybersecurity-related information that could expose individuals, organizations, systems, or infrastructure to unnecessary risk may also be removed or restricted.
CyberVista Global may remove repeated slogans, copied campaign messages, coordinated manipulation, undisclosed paid advocacy, artificial engagement, fabricated evidence, or content generated at scale without meaningful human contribution.
4. Moderation
Comments may be moderated before or after publication.
CyberVista Global may:
- Correct obvious formatting problems
- Remove unsafe, malicious, or misleading links
- Limit repetitive submissions
- Close discussion threads
- Restrict abusive activity
- Remove specific unlawful, unsafe, or harmful elements while preserving the remainder of a comment where appropriate
- Restrict content that creates an unreasonable cybersecurity, privacy, or personal-safety risk
Material edits that change the meaning of a user’s contribution will not be made silently.
Where a material change would alter the user’s meaning, the comment may instead be rejected or accompanied by an appropriate editorial note.
Moderation is risk based and may not always occur immediately.
Publication of a comment does not mean that CyberVista Global has verified, agreed with, or endorsed the statements contained in it.
Failure to remove one comment does not create an entitlement to publish another comment.
CyberVista Global may use technical and automated tools to identify spam, malicious links, coordinated abuse, fraudulent activity, or other content that may violate this policy. Such systems may be supplemented by human review where appropriate.
5. Names, Impersonation, and Anonymity
Participants may use a display name where the commenting system permits it.
Impersonation and false claims of authority are prohibited.
CyberVista Global may request verification where a commenter claims to represent an individual, company, organization, cybersecurity researcher, profession, institution, government body, or event that is central to the discussion.
In higher-risk circumstances, CyberVista Global may protect a commenter’s publicly displayed identity while requiring appropriate private verification.
Anonymity does not remove a participant’s responsibility to comply with this policy.
Users should not falsely claim to be cybersecurity researchers, security professionals, government officials, company representatives, journalists, or other authorities.
6. Privacy and Data
Depending on the commenting system and applicable technical requirements, comment forms may collect information such as a name, email address, website address, IP address, anti-spam information, browser or device information, and other technical data as described in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Email addresses are not ordinarily displayed publicly through the standard comment function.
Commenters should not submit personal, confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information that they do not want to appear publicly.
A public comment may be indexed, quoted, archived, syndicated, or discussed as part of CyberVista Global’s editorial record.
Deleting an account or requesting removal of a comment does not necessarily guarantee deletion of lawful quotations, screenshots, moderation records, security records, or archived copies where continued retention is justified by legal, editorial, security, or public-interest considerations.
CyberVista Global may retain moderation and technical records where reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, investigate security incidents, enforce this policy, comply with legal obligations, or protect users and the platform.
7. Children and Vulnerable Users
Children should not submit personal information through CyberVista Global’s community or comment functions.
CyberVista Global may remove material that appears to identify, expose, exploit, target, or place a child or vulnerable person at risk.
Adults must not use community spaces to solicit inappropriate contact with minors or to engage in grooming, coercion, exploitation, manipulation, or other inappropriate conduct.
Where necessary, additional restrictions may be applied to protect vulnerable participants.
Users should not disclose identifying information about children or vulnerable individuals unless there is a legitimate and appropriate reason to do so.
8. Corrections and Complaints Are Separate
Comments are not the preferred mechanism for reporting factual errors, requesting corrections, reporting security vulnerabilities, or submitting formal editorial complaints.
Evidence-based correction requests should be submitted through CyberVista Global’s designated corrections or editorial contact channel.
Formal complaints should be submitted through CyberVista Global’s designated complaints or contact channel.
Security vulnerabilities, exposed credentials, active exploitation, or other sensitive security information should not be posted publicly in comments. Where CyberVista Global provides a designated security-reporting channel, users should use that channel for responsible disclosure.
Using the designated channels helps ensure that correction requests, complaints, and security reports are reviewed by the appropriate accountable function.
A comment thread does not replace CyberVista Global’s formal correction, complaints, or security-reporting processes.
9. Enforcement and Appeals
Responses to violations may include:
- A warning
- Removal of a comment
- Removal of a link
- Closure of a discussion thread
- Rate limitation
- Temporary restriction
- Permanent blocking
- Restriction of an account or associated technical identifiers
- Referral to an appropriate authority where required by law or necessary to address an immediate safety concern
Enforcement decisions may take into account:
- The seriousness of the conduct
- Apparent intent
- Repetition
- Potential or actual harm
- Previous behavior
- The user’s cooperation with moderation
- Whether the activity appears coordinated or automated
- Whether the conduct presents a cybersecurity, privacy, or personal-safety risk
A person may appeal a moderation decision by contacting CyberVista Global through its designated complaints or contact channel.
Where an appeal is submitted, it should include:
- The relevant article URL
- The comment text, where available
- The approximate time of publication
- The reason the person believes the moderation decision should be reconsidered
CyberVista Global may decline repeated, abusive, threatening, or clearly bad-faith appeals.
10. User License
By submitting a public comment, the commenter grants CyberVista Global a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, moderate, reproduce, archive, and distribute the comment in connection with CyberVista Global, its website, community functions, editorial activities, and editorial record.
The commenter retains ownership of their submission.
The commenter remains responsible for the content they provide, including its legality, accuracy, originality, and compliance with this policy.
This license does not transfer ownership of the comment to CyberVista Global.
The license also does not give CyberVista Global ownership of trademarks, intellectual property, or other rights belonging to third parties that may be referenced in a comment.
11. Changes and Availability
CyberVista Global may disable comments on individual articles or across the website where necessary for:
- Safety
- Legal compliance
- Editorial reasons
- Moderation capacity
- Technical limitations
- Security
- Protection of users or sources
- Prevention of coordinated abuse
- Protection of confidential or sensitive information
Comment availability may vary depending on the nature of an article, the level of public interest, previous abuse, the sensitivity of the subject, or CyberVista Global’s ability to moderate discussion responsibly.
CyberVista Global may also restrict or suspend community functionality during security incidents, technical failures, coordinated attacks, or other circumstances where continued operation could create unacceptable risks.
This policy may be reviewed and updated as CyberVista Global’s community features, technology, editorial practices, security requirements, and legal obligations develop.
